Gronek was one of the top pitchers in the Great Lakes Valley Conference during a career where he helped lead the Miners to two GLVC West Division championships and the program’s first NCAA regional appearance in 39 seasons.  He was named to the All-GLVC first team and all-region following both the 2011 and 2012 seasons, when he compiled a record of 22-2 with a 2.82 earned run average and 134 strikeouts in 179 innings. In a career where he threw a school record 260 1/3 innings, Gronek recorded a career record of 26-10 with a 3.60 earned run average and struck out 202 batters while walking only 30.  He was 10-1 in the 2011 season with a 2.38 ERA and was the winning pitcher in S&T’s first-ever wins at the GLVC Tournament and at the NCAA Midwest Regional, when he threw a five-hit shutout against defending national champion Southern Indiana.
