Huddleston was one of the prolific long-range shooters in the nation in the first years that the three-point line became a part of college basketball. He earned third-team All-America honors following a senior year where he averaged 24.2 points per game. Huddleston scored 1,475 points in his career at UMR, the second-best mark in school history when he finished his career and made 51 percent of his three-point attempts in the two seasons in which the three-point shot was in effect. He set an NCAA Division II record by making 10 straight three-pointers in a 1988 game against Northeast Missouri State and later that season was named to the All-MIAA first team for the second straight season.
