Missouri S&T Athletics

Vancil established himself as a top competitor in track & field and cross country at MSM.  In cross country, he competed for three seasons and was the first MIAA cross country champion at the 1958 conference meet held in Rolla, helping the Miners capture the team title in the process.  He also established a new record for the Miners during his four-year track career in the two-mile run.  Vancil was named as the school’s Athlete of the Year and served as M-Club president while at MSM.
