The 2016 season ranks among the greatest in Missouri S&T baseball history. The Miners set a program record with 39 wins (39-19), captured the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) West Division title with a 19-9 conference record, and advanced further than any team in program history by reaching the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional championship game.Â
Led by first-team all-region selections Eli Miller and Aaron Bedsworth, along with four additional All-GLVC honorees, the Miners opened the season with eight straight wins and closed the regular season on a six-game winning streak to claim the division title on the final day. After dropping the regional opener, they rallied with four consecutive victories—including back-to-back walk-off wins over Grand Valley State University and Quincy University—to reach the championship game. Â
Guided by GLVC Coach of the Year Todd DeGraffenreid, Missouri S&T also fielded one of the conference's top offenses, posting a .318 team batting average, the third-highest mark in program history.
