Missouri S&T's 2007-08 women's basketball team, under the direction of head coach Alan Eads, set a number of new standards during the course of that winter, winning more games than any team in school history with 24 and reaching the championship game of the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.  Balance and strong defense were keys to the success of this team, as the Miners had three double figure scorers – led by Tamara McCaskill's 14.8 points per game – and held their opponents to 38.3 percent shooting and 61.6 points per game.  The Miners rattled off a then-school record 10-game winning streak that included a victory over eventual national champion Northern Kentucky and picked up their first-ever NCAA Tournaments wins with triumphs over Michigan Tech and Quincy to reach the regional championship game.  McCaskill was a first-team All-GLVC selection, while Katie McElrath and Katie Bunge were named to the All-GLVC third team.
