Keeton spent 23 years on the Miner coaching staff, spending all of those years as the offensive line coach on the football staff but also as a head coach for two programs. He headed the Miners' wrestling program for 17 years – where he earned MIAA Coach of the Year honors -- and also handled the head coaching duties for the men's track & field program for two seasons. As the Miners' offensive line coach, Keeton guided a unit that was one of the best in the MIAA for much of the 1970s and early 1980s with a run-oriented offense that ranked at or near the top of the conference on an annual basis. The Miners won or shared three MIAA football titles during his tenure on the staff.
