Missouri S&T Athletics

Schaefer served as the university’s faculty representative to the MIAA and NCAA for 27 years, which also included a five-year stint as the MIAA president and a term as vice president.  A strong backer of UMR athletics, Schaefer – who also played a year of football at MSM – also served on the university’s athletic committee as chairman from 1964-91.  He always handled the duties with the best interests of the university and its student-athletes in mind.
