During the 2009 season, Missouri S&T’s men’s track & field team became the first Miner squad to win a GLVC championship when it captured the indoor season title, then completed the sweep of the league championships by taking the outdoor meet just over two months later.  At the indoor meet, the Miners finished 46 points ahead of Indianapolis as they got first place finishes from Jordan Henry – the indoor athlete of the year in the GLVC -- in the heptathlon, Dan Hellwig in the pole vault and Jarryd Dean in the triple jump, as well as its distance medley relay team.  The outdoor meet came down to the final event, where the Miners finished right behind UIndy in the 4x400-meter relay to ensure a one-point win over the Greyhounds to complete the indoor-outdoor sweep.  Henry and Dean also captured individual titles outdoors as did Peter Hollenbeck and Joe Skelton.  Head coach Sterling Martin was named as the GLVC Coach of the Year for both seasons.
