The Miners’ 1969 golf team was one of the most highly decorated teams in school history, as it won the MIAA and Midwest Regional championships and followed that by finishing ninth at the NCAA Division II Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. The Miners went 15-3 in dual meets that season and won the inaugural Best Ball Tournament held in Rolla. Led by first-team All-America selection Fred Parks, the Miners had a team in which all five of its players averaged below 80 for the team; its team average score for the year was 77.6.
