In her two seasons in the Lady Miner softball program, Deken was one of the nation's most dominant pitchers as she averaged 9.7 strikeouts per seven innings over the course of her career.  Deken's 522 strikeouts, 0.80 earned run average, four no-hitters and 11 one-hitters all rank first in school history.  In the 2004 season, she was named as the MIAA's most valuable player as she set conference records for strikeouts in a season with 346 and in a game with 23, which tied the NCAA Division II single game mark.  She went 27-2 in the circle in 2004 for a Lady Miner team that set a school record with 41 wins and posted a 0.48 earned run average, the sixth-best in Division II that season.  As a junior, she posted a 1.25 earned run average with 176 strikeouts in 156 2/3 innings.
