Biederman was a .358 career hitter with the Miner baseball team and earned honorable mention All-America honors following the 1972 season, one in which the team won the MIAA championship and earned a berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament. He led the 1972 team in hitting with a .383 average with two home runs and 24 runs batted in. Of the 35 hits he had that season, 17 were for extra bases as he won all-conference honors for a second time. He was also named all-district and to the Topps All-Star team as a third baseman.
