In just its fifth season after reinstatement, the 2011 Missouri S&T women's volleyball team made history by capturing the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) West Division championship and earning the program's first-ever berth in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional tournament. Propelled by a program-record 11-match winning streak early in the year, the Miners finished the season with a 24–10 overall record and a 15–3 mark in GLVC play, setting the program record for wins in a season.

The team—led by GLVC Coach of the Year Jason Holt—also earned its first-ever GLVC Tournament victory, sweeping the University of Missouri-St. Louis in straight sets and avenging an earlier regular season loss to the Tritons. Several Miners earned post-season honors, including first-team All-GLVC selections Erin Bekebrede, Jennifer Costello, and Jocelyn DeMotte, along with second-team honoree Jaclyn Zellmer. Bekebrede and DeMotte also earned Daktronics All-Midwest Region recognition.

The 2011 season marked a major milestone for the Missouri S&T volleyball program, setting a new competitive standard and positioning the team as an emerging power in the GLVC and NCAA Division II landscape.
