SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri S&T got wins in four events Saturday, but Drury's overall depth was evident as the defending NCAA Division II champions beat the Miners in a dual meet Saturday by a count of
149-88.
The Miners got their events wins from
Andrew Trowbridge (Arlington, Texas/Arlington), who swept the distance freestyle events for the second week in a row,
Andrew Schranck (Alton, Ill./Marquette Catholic) in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.70 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of
Sean Deegan (Kansas City, Mo./Park Hill),
Agi VanWetering (Omaha, Neb./Millard West),
David Sanchez-Turner (Madrid, Spain/Academic Torvell) and
Hamilton Vernon (Omaha, Neb./Burke) with a winning time of 1:25.75.
Trowbridge won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:44.38 after taking the 1,000-free in 9:47.84.
Second place finishes came from Vernon in the 50-freestyle in 21.80 seconds,
Danny Murphy (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:09.30 and 500-freestyle in 4:45.14,
Jeff Enge (Edmond, Okla./Edmond Memorial) in the 100-backstroke in 53.56 seconds and
Zlatan Hamzic (Panceva, Serbia/Uros Predic) in the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.09 seconds.
S&T's 200-yard medley relay team of Schranck, Hamzic,
Paul Reinisch (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) and Vernon also took second in that event in a time of 1:35.87.
Deegan placed third in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.92, as did Schranck in the 100-yard butterfly in 51.73 seconds and VanWetering in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.58 seconds
The Panthers built their margin with 32 additional points in diving.
Missouri S&T's next action will take place at the Western Kentucky Invitational, which runs from Nov. 20-22 in Bowling Green, Ky.
