ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's track & field team had a solid performance Saturday at the Dewey Allgood Invitational, winning 15 events during the afternoon that also included a school record performance.
The record came courtesy of
Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw), who broke his own record set last month with a throw of 215-11 to win the hammer throw competition. He led a contingent that took the top three spots in that event, as
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) took second at 180-5 and
Kevin McCole (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell) finished third at 175-10. The Miners also claimed the top three spots in the 5,000-meters, with
Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS) winning in a time of 14:37.03 followed by
Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) in 15:02.46 and
Daniel Garrison (Liberty, MO/Liberty) in 15:56.11.
In addition, the Miners swept the top five spots in the shot put, led by
Owen Fraser's (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) winning mark of 54-1½.
Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) finished second at 51-3¾, while
Tyler Marchert (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) was third with his top throw of 50-0½. The top five was rounded out by
Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw) in fourth at 48-6¼ and
Matthew Hoffman (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) in fifth at 48-0½.
Fraser added another win later in the day when he took first in the discus with a mark of 172-7 as did Rackers, who earlier win came in the 1,500-meters in 3:54.64.
Other first place finishes were also recorded by
Justis Braden (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) in the javelin with a throw of 174-7,
Kyle Burke (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield) in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.63 seconds, Samuel Schmidt in the 100-meters in 10.64 seconds and 200-meters in 21.84 seconds,
Aiden Kearns (St. Charles, MO/Luthern-St. Charles) in the 800-meters in 1:58.21,
Xander Hall (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) in the pole vault with a clearance of 14-6½,
Sam Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.07 seconds and
Joshua Nunn (Independence, MO/Truman) in the 10,000-meters with his time of 32:17.85.
The Miners had all of the competitors in the 10,000-meters, with
Joshua Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines) finishing second in 32:34.68 and
Samuel Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines) placing third in 32:38.15.
S&T's 4x100-meter relay team of Burke,
Sam Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro),
Reece Johnson (Festus, MO/Festus) and Schmidt took first as well with a time of 41.64 seconds. Meanwhile,
Paulvin Horton (Raleigh, NC/Garner) finished in a three-way tie for first in the high jump as he cleared 6-5¼,
S&T had second place finishes from Levi Frisbee in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:59.21,
Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) in the 1,500-meters in 3:59.90, Johnson in the 100-meters in 10.79 seconds,
Michael Pate (Wildwood, MO/Lafayette) in the 400-meters in 50.42 seconds,
Caleb Craft (Jackson, MO/Jackson) in the pole vault at 13-0¾ and Burke in the 200-meters in 22.21 seconds.
Caleb Schoenberg (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) was third in the steeplechase with a time of 10:07.38 as was
Scott Stutsman (Wentzville, MO/Holt) in the javelin throw with a mark of 167-6, Marchert in the discus throw with a mark of 147-1 and
Nathan Apple (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg) in the 400-hurdles in 57.21 seconds. S&T's 4x400-meter relay team of Kearns,
Evan Mitchell (Shawnee, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest),
Mason Ivy (Centerton, AR/Bentonville West) and
Logan Binger (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit North) also took third with a time of 3:37.74
Aaron Geissinger (Abilene, KS/Abilene) finished fourth in the steeplechase in 10:11.23 along with
Kamden Lockwood (Herscher, IL/Herscher) in the high jump as he went over the bar at six-feet and pole vault with a clearance of 12-6¾,
Ethan Ptacek (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg) in the 400-meters in 51.13 seconds, Hoffman in the discus with a mark of 145-1 and Horton in the long jump with a mark of 21-8¾;
Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) tied for fourth in the pole vault at 12-6¾.
Apple was fifth in the 110-hurdles in 15 seconds flat as was
Luke Myszka (Downs, IL/Tri-Valley) in the 400-hurdles in 59.44 seconds,
Dylan Fritz (Ozark, MO/Ozark) in the 5,000 in 16:16.33, DJ Carter in the discus at 143-8 and Johnson in the 200-meters in 22.60 seconds.
Sixth place finishes came from Garrison in the 1,500-meters in 4:04.16, Knittel in the 110-hurdles in 15.16 seconds, Hoffman in the hammer throw at 152-feet,
Justin Grellner (Cedar Hill, MO/Northwest) in the 400-meters in 52.33 seconds,
Jorge Cantu (Cypress, TX/Bridgeland) in the 800-meters in 2:01.45,
Dawson Sherer (Galena, MO/Galena) in the pole vault at 12-1 and
Tim Greiner (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis University High) in the 5,000-meters in 16:25.14
Tristan Jones (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) was seventh in the long jump at 20-10¾ as was
Luke Myszka (Downs, IL/Tri-Valley) in the 110-hurdles in 15.26 seconds, Sherer in the discus at 133-4 and Cantu in the 5,000 in 16:32.16, while and
Caleb Graham (Carl Junction, MO/Carl Junction) tied for seventh in the pole vault with his clearance of 11-1. Carter finished eighth in the shot put with his mark of 45-5¼ as did Craft in the 110-hurdles in 15.54 seconds and Jake Landsdowne in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.54.
