SEARCY, Ark. -- Missouri S&T track and field turned in another strong postseason qualifying performance Sunday at the Harding Mother's Day Last Chance Meet, highlighted by another school record from Madelaine Fischer (Anamosa, IA/Anamosa) and multiple NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.
Fischer continued her historic outdoor season in the women's discus, capturing first place with a school-record throw of 48.03 meters. The mark broke her own program record once again and currently ranks 25th nationally in NCAA Division II while surpassing the NCAA provisional qualifying standard.
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) also delivered a strong performance in the throws, winning the women's shot put with a mark of 14.64 meters. The throw surpassed the NCAA provisional standard and currently ranks 15th nationally in Division II. Morris also added a fourth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 43.75 meters.
On the men's side, Jake Salazar-Blair (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) placed second in the javelin with a throw of 57.85 meters, while Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood) earned a runner-up finish in the triple jump at 14.41 meters. Chadwell currently ranks 46th nationally in Division II, while Salazar-Blair sits 52nd in the javelin rankings.
Eli Graham continued a strong outdoor campaign in the men's discus, posting a throw of 48.15 meters, while Mary Kimmerle (Lathrop, MO/Liberty North) added another strong sprint hurdles performance with a time of 14.38 seconds in the women's 100-meter hurdles.
The meet served as one of the Miners' final opportunities to improve NCAA qualifying marks as Missouri S&T now awaits selections for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.
