S&T closes cross country campaign at NCAA Midwest Regional

KENOSHA, Wis. – Missouri S&T closed out its 2022 cross country season Saturday at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional, with the men's team finishing in 13th place out of the 28 teams in competition and the women placing 21st out of 31 teams.

The men's team, running in a 10-kilometer event for the first time this season, were led by Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS) in 38th place in the race with a time of 32:14 and Hayes Pateidl (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) in 41t place in 32:16.  They were followed across the finish line by Daniel Garrison (Liberty, MO/Liberty) in 75th place in a time of 33:01.

S&T's final two scorers were Andrew Lofgren (Chesterfield, MO/Parkway West) in 98th place in 33:22 and Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) in 113th with a time of 33:39.57.  The Miners' sixth finisher was Spencer Teske (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley), who had a mark of 34:06 and Joshua Nunn (Independence, MO/Truman) in 34:31.  A total of 196 runners competed in the men's race.

Walsh's Zach Kreft captured the individual title with a time of 30:45, while Grand Valley State – who had the next two finishers in the race – won the team title by 55 points over Saginaw Valley State with a total of 58.

Missouri S&T's women were paced by Clare Holmes (Camdenton, MO/Camdenton) in 101st place overall with a time of 23:42 over six kilometers.  Emily Griesenauer (Wentzville, MO/Holt) was the next S&T runner across the finish line in 24:00, while Victoria Regitz (Rockville, MD/Rockville) finished in 24:05, Grace Giesler (Owasso, OK/Owasso) in 24:21.42 and Aubrie Caldwell (Dripping Springs, TX/Dripping Springs) in 24:21.45.

S&T final two runners were Emma Mueller (St. Louis, MO/Oakville), who recorded a time of 24:29 and Hope Strausbaugh (Rogersville, MO/Logan-Rogersville), who finished in 27:00.

Grand Valley State also won the women's competition with a total of 31 points, 42 better than runner-up Cedarville.  The Lakers had the top three finishers in the race, led by Klaudia O'Malley's winning performance in 21:19.
