Cross Country Set for Split Weekend at Brian T. Simpson and Lewis Crossover

10/8/2025 3:32:00 PM

Rolla, Mo. – Missouri S&T cross country will compete in a pair of meets this weekend as the Miners continue their 2025 schedule. The men's team will split between the Brian T. Simpson Invitational in Columbia, Mo., and the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill., while the women's team will race in Columbia.

The men's race at the Brian T. Simpson Invitational is set to begin at 9 a.m., followed by the women's race at 9:45 a.m. The men's squad competing at the Lewis Crossover will toe the line at 10:30 a.m.

The Missouri S&T men's team enters the weekend coming off a strong performance at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia two weeks ago. Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) led the way with a 10th-place finish in 25:09.7, earning GLVC Runner of the Week honors after finishing as the top Division II competitor in a field featuring NCAA Division I and nationally ranked NAIA programs.

The Miners will look to build on that success this weekend with a split squad. One group will return to Columbia for the Brian T. Simpson Invitational. At the same time, the other will head north to face regional competition at the Lewis Crossover, one of the premier meets in the Midwest Region.

On the women's side, Missouri S&T will also compete at the Brian T. Simpson Invitational, seeking to continue improving its pack time and depth against a familiar field. Genevieve Wacker (St. Charles, MO/St. Charles West) has paced the Miners in recent meets, while the team continues to close gaps between scoring runners ahead of the upcoming conference championships.
