GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Twelve members of the Missouri S&T men's and women's track & field and cross country programs have been named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, recognizing student-athletes for their accomplishments in both competition and the classroom.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and meet specific athletic criteria. For track & field athletes, nominees must rank among the top 50 performers in the NCAA region in at least one event during the indoor or outdoor season. Cross country student-athletes may also qualify by recording a top-50 finish at the NCAA Regional Championships.
Representing Missouri S&T on the women's side are
Lauryn Fenoglio (Granite City, IL/Granite City), Madelaine Fischer (Anamosa, IA/Anamosa), Mary Kimmerle (Lathrop, MO/Liberty North),
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran),
Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland),
and Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro). Honorees from the men's team include Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves),
DJ Carter (Trussville, AL/Hewitt Trussville),
Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood),
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville),
Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest),
and Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill).
Wright earned Academic All-District honors after recording top-50 Midwest Regional rankings in 11 events across the indoor and outdoor seasons. Her performances were highlighted by a second-place regional ranking in the indoor pentathlon and a third-place ranking in the outdoor heptathlon. Morris posted top-10 regional rankings in the shot put during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, including a fifth-place outdoor ranking after breaking the Missouri S&T school record with a throw of 14.76 meters.
Fischer ranked fifth in the Midwest Region in the discus during the outdoor season while also earning regional rankings in the shot put and hammer throw. Smith qualified with top-50regional rankings in the triple jump, long jump and high jump, while Fenoglio earned regional rankings in the pentathlon, heptathlon, hurdles and long jump. Kimmerle recorded top-20outdoor regional rankings in both the 100-meter hurdles and long jump while adding regional rankings in the 400-meter hurdles and relay events.
Fraser led the men's honorees after winning the NCAA Division II national championship in the indoor shot put and finishing the season ranked first in the Midwest Region in the event. He also ranked eighth in the region in the weight throw. Born earned recognition after ranking first in the Midwest Region in the indoor 3,000-meter run, fifth in the mile and third as part of Missouri S&T's distance medley relay team. He also finished 26th at the NCAA Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships.
Knittel qualified after ranking fourth in the Midwest Region in the indoor heptathlon while also earning regional rankings in the pole vault and high jump. He was also a member of Missouri S&T's third-ranked distance medley relay team. Bacon earned Academic All-District honors through regional rankings in the mile and distance medley relay while placing 34th at the NCAA Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships.
Chadwell posted top-20 Midwest Regional rankings in the triple jump during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, including a fifth-place outdoor ranking. Carter earned recognition after recording regional rankings in the shot put during both the indoor and outdoor seasons as well as the hammer throw outdoors.
The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes for their combined success in athletics and academics. Academic All-America selections will be announced on July 14 (Men) and July 15 (Women).
