What to Watch
Missouri S&T enters the Bearcat Invitational with strong momentum across both squads, led by several conference leaders and recent event winners. On the men's side,
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) headlines the throws with top-tier marks in the shot put and weight throw, while
Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) continues to pace the GLVC in the heptathlon.
Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) and
Jack Janovick (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) anchor a deep distance group, highlighted by Born's recent school-record performance in the mile and Janovick's season-best showing in the 800 meters. The Miners also feature multiple top-five conference marks in the shot put, hurdles, and distance medley relay.
The women's squad is led by
Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro), who owns the top pentathlon score in the GLVC, along with
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran), who ranks among the league's best in both the shot put and weight throw. Missouri S&T is also competitive in the jumps and relays, with top conference marks in the long jump, pentathlon, and distance medley relay. Last weekend at Principia, the Miners posted multiple event wins and podium finishes on both sides, including victories in throws, jumps, sprints, distance events, and relays, setting the stage for another strong showing this weekend in Maryville.
