ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T track and field athlete Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) has officially qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the women's shot put.
Morris earned a national qualifying spot after recording a school-record throw of 14.76 meters earlier this season at the Miner Invitational, currently ranking No. 15 nationally in NCAA Division II entering the national meet.
The Jefferson City, Missouri native broke the Missouri S&T outdoor shot put record during the first outdoor meet of the season and continued to build momentum throughout the spring. Morris earned All-Conference honors with a runner-up finish in the shot put at the GLVC Outdoor Championships before posting multiple NCAA provisional qualifying marks throughout the outdoor season.
Morris becomes the first female national qualifier for Missouri S&T track and field since Annmarie Tyson qualified during the 2022 season.
The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place May 21-23 in Emporia, Kansas.
