FAYETTE, Mo. -- Missouri S&T track & field has adjusted its weekend schedule and will now compete at the CMU Invite at Central Methodist University, with a limited group of athletes participating in the meet.
The Miners' heptathlon group and throwers are representing S&T at the two-day competition.
Day One Recap
Missouri S&T opened competition with strong performances in both the throws and heptathlon events.
In the women's hammer throw, Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) led the way with a fourth-place finish (46.90m), while Madelaine Fischer
followed with a
seventh-place finish (43.83m). On the men's side,
Tyler Marchert (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) led the pack for the Miners finishing fourth (49.76m) and DJ Carted knocked in a fifth place finish (49.25m).
In the heptathlon, the Miners turned in several solid marks across multiple events. Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.67), while Maddie Falls and Wright added strong performances in the long jump, finishing fourth (1.58m) and fifth (1.55m), respectively.
Falls continued her strong day with a runner-up finish in the shot put (11.67m) and later placed fourth in the 200 meters (25.82). Lauryn Fenoglio (Granite City, IL/Granite City) added a third-place finish in the shot put (10.45m) to round out the day's highlights.
Day Two Schedule
Competition will continue on Saturday with the final events of the heptathlon, beginning at 9 a.m. with the long jump, javelin, and 800 meters.
The Miners' throwers will also return to action, with the women's shot put scheduled to begin at 11 a.m with women's discus to follow. Men's Discus will start at 11 a.m. with shot put to follow.
