2/10/2026 11:26:00 AM

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Missouri S&T men's indoor track and field surged to No. 11 in this week's national rankings released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), climbing eight spots from last week's No. 19 position.

The Miners' rise is backed by strong national event-group recognition, with Missouri S&T ranking No. 5 in the men's shot put, No. 19 in the men's weight throw, No. 20 in the men's 60-meter hurdles, and No. 21 in the men's mile. On the women's side, the Miners also earned a No. 7 national ranking in the pentathlon, underscoring the program's depth across disciplines.

The jump in the rankings follows a record-setting weekend highlighted by a historic performance in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay. The quartet of Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves), Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest), Jack Janovick (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill), and Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) shattered the Missouri S&T school record by 18 seconds, clocking 9:45.12 to place third overall and secure a Division II provisional mark. Janovick added another school record with a 1:51.48 second-place finish in the 800 meters, while Born won the 3,000 meters in 7:57.39, earning a DII provisional and moving to No. 7 nationally.

In the throws, Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) continued his standout season by breaking his own school record in the shot put with a mark of 19.37 meters, while also posting a DII provisional in the weight throw at 19.65 meters. Fraser's dominant performance earned him USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors. Additional notable efforts included Louis Yohannes (Troy, IL/Triad) placing seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (8.43), Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) finishing sixth in the mile (4:11.37), and Luke Bass (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) clearing 1.93 meters (6-4) to finish sixth in the high jump.

The Miners' move into the national top 15 reflects a surge of momentum as Missouri S&T continues to stack elite performances across events heading into the heart of the indoor season.
