Miners Shine at Hilltop Classic Ahead of GLVC Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Missouri S&T track and field wrapped up the regular season Saturday at the Hilltop Classic hosted by Illinois College, turning in multiple event titles and a school record performance as the Miners prepare for the Indoor GLVC Championships. 
 
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) delivered the headline performance of the day, winning the women's shot put with a school-record mark of 14.43 meters. The throw ranks 20th nationally in NCAA Division II this season. Morris also claimed first place in the weight throw at 15.22 meters, leading a strong showing in the throws. 
  
On the men's side, Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) continued his dominant indoor campaign with two victories. Fraser won the shot put with a mark of 18.35 meters and followed with a first-place finish in the weight throw at 19.92 meters. The Miners also swept the top three spots in the men's shot put, as Aiden McDaniel (Ashland, MO/Southern Boone) placed second (15.22m) and Tyler Marchert (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) finished third (14.97m). 
  
In the field events, Mary Kimmerle (Lathrop, MO/Liberty North) captured first in the women's long jump (5.35m) and added a strong performance in the 60-meter hurdles (9.12). Jenna Mueller (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) placed second in the women's pole vault (3.36m), while Noah Misukonis (Bloomington, IL/Bloomington) cleared 4.61 meters to finish sixth in the men's pole vault. 
  
On the track, Tate Uding (Festus, MO/Festus) took second in the men's mile (4:21.67), and Nathan White finished runner-up in the 400 meters (52.08). Sean Keys (Columbia, MO/Hickman) added a third-place finish in the 800 meters (1:58.67), while George Ivanov (Lincoln, NE/Lincoln Pius X) placed third in the 3,000 meters (8:50.72). Olivia Miles (Tulsa, OK/Bishop Kelley) rounded out the top finishes for the women with a third-place performance in the 200 meters (26.84). 
  
With strong momentum across both squads, the Miners now turn their attention to postseason competition. 
  
What's Next 
Missouri S&T will compete at the Indoor GLVC Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana, Feb. 28 – March 1.
