EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Emma Puetz (Rolla, MO/Rolla) broke her own record mark in a six-kilometer cross country race Saturday as she finished in 13th place, as both of Missouri S&T's teams finished in 20th place at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional at Angel Mounds Park.

Puetz rose to 13th over the final three kilometers of the six-kilometer race, as she was 19th at the midway point of the meet with a time of 10:24.  She covered the final three kilometers in 10:32 to finish with a final time of 20:57, 48 seconds faster than her previous mark posted when she was second at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.

Her 13th place finish made her the fifth-highest finisher in the race among the individuals whose teams did not finish among the top three, leaving Puetz in the at-large pool for the final qualifiers for the national meet in two weeks in Joplin, Mo.

The at-large participants will be announced by 5 p.m. Monday.
