Miners add three provisional marks on day two at Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's swimming team added three more NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks during day two of the Mizzou Invitational at the University of Missouri, getting the times from Connor Bichsel (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit West), Adam Wiedemeier (West Monroe, LA/West Monroe) and Noah Clancy (Alton, IL/Alton).

Bichsel reached a provisional qualifying mark for the second day in succession when he finished fourth in the 400-yard individual medley, recording a school record time of 3:50.91 in the finals.

Wiedemeier, meanwhile, reached his provisional mark in the 200-yard freestyle as he bettered his preliminary time with a mark of 1:38.02, which placed him second in the consolation final in the event.  Clancy earned his provisional time in the 100-yard breaststroke in the morning session with a time of 54.17 seconds.

Oscar Iden (Oslo, Norway/Oslo Private Gymnasium) also reached a provisional mark Wednesday in the 100-yard butterfly, giving the Miners four individuals who have already hit the NCAA standard.

Aidan Walters (Olathe, KS/Olathe East) had a time of 50.13 in the 100-yard backstroke, while Oskar Fridsell (Solna, Sweden/Solna Gymnasium) posted a 50.39 in that event on Thursday.

S&T's 400-yard medley relay team of Cameron McCrary (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West), Jordan Christensen (Coralville, IA/Iowa West), Greg Dreisewerd (Ellisville, MO/MICDS) and Eli Wetzel (Springdale, AR/Don Tyson School of Innovation) finished with a time of 1:34.85, while the 800-yard freestyle relay team of Wiedemeier, Bichsel, Kevin Williams (Houston, TX/Westside) and Walters had a mark of 6:46.13.

S&T remained in fifth place among the six teams taking part in the meet, which concludes Friday.
