COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's
Connor Bichsel (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit West) reached an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark for the third time this week to highlight the Miner performances Friday on the final day of the Mizzou Invitational at the University of Missouri.
Bichsel, who already had qualifying times in the 200- and 400-yard individual medley earlier in the meet, added one in the 200-yard butterfly with his time of 1:47.61 that allowed him to capture the consolation final in that event.
The Miners also got another provisional qualifying time during the day as
Adam Wiedemeier (West Monroe, LA/West Monroe) recorded a time of 44.11 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle to surpass the standard of 45.28 seconds in the event.
Martin Melinder (Upplands Vasby, Sweden) had the fastest time for S&T in the 1,650-yard freestyle with his time of 16:14.61, while
Lane Werth (Wichita, KS/Wichita North) had a mark of 16:23.39 in that event.
Aidan Walters (Olathe, KS/Olathe East) recorded a time of 1:50.63 in the 200-yard backstroke, followed by
Cameron McCrary's (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) time of 1:52.77 and
Oskar Fridsell's (Solna, Sweden/Solna Gymnasium) of 1:54.67 in the consolation final.
S&T also had two additional competitors in the 200-butterfly, where
Nate Baxter (St. Charles, IL/St. Charles North) finished with a time of 1:52.07 and
Oscar Iden (Oslo, Norway/Oslo Private Gymnasium) with a mark of 1:53.47.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Wiedemeier,
Noah Clancy (Alton, IL/Alton), Iden and Walters finished in ninth place with a time of 3:02.03.
Missouri S&T's next competition will take place Dec. 2 when it competes against Drury in a dual meet in Springfield, Mo.
