ELSAH, Ill. – Missouri S&T's cross country teams hit the course for the second time this season Friday afternoon and had six individuals finish among the top 20 in their respective races at the Great Lakes Valley Conference's West Divisional race held at Principia College.

Led by Hayes Pateidl's (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) fifth place finish, the men's team finished in fourth place in the standings to qualify for the "A" race at the GLVC Championships in two weeks at the same location as today's competition, while the women's team ended up fifth among the seven teams in its race with 113 points.   The men finished with the same score – 85 – as Drury, but the Panthers took third in the team standings based on getting their top five runners across the finish before S&T's top five.

Pateidl covered the eight-kilometer course in a shade over 27 minutes (27:00.52) and was joined in the top 20 overall in the 64-runner race by Andrew Lofgren (Chesterfield, MO/Parkway West) in 14th place with a time of 27:50, Elijah Araya (Spring, TX/John Cooper) in 19th place in 28:00 and Spencer Teske (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley) in 20th with a time of 28:02.

S&T's fifth finisher Friday was Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS), who came in 27th place in a time of 28:32.  The Miners' top seven was rounded out by Drew Schulte (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) in 35th place in 29:14 and Garrett Mason (Camdenton, MO/Camdenton) in 39th with his time of 29:21.

Lindenwood won the team competition by seven points over Southwest Baptist and also had the individual winner in Louis Moreau, who took first in 25:59 and was 47 ahead of second place finisher Tyler Goatley from SBU.

The women's race saw freshman Emma Puetz (Rolla, MO/Rolla) finish as S&T's top runner for the second straight time as she recorded a 11th place finish in the six-kilometer race in a time of 24:01.  Krista Hilmas (Rolla, MO/Rolla) also finished among the top 20 overall by coming in 18th place in 24:45.

The Miners' next three finishers all finished within four spots of one another, led by Grace Geisler (Owasso, OK/Owasso) in 28th place with a time of 25:43, followed by Claire Holmes in 29th in 25:44 and Hope Strausbaugh (Rogersville, MO/Logan-Rogersville) in 31st place in a time of 25:58.  S&T's next two scorers were Julia McIntyre (New Haven, MO/New Haven) in 35th place in 26:18 and Aubrie Caldwell (Dripping Springs, TX/Dripping Springs) in 39th in 26:33.  A total of 66 runners competed in Friday's women's race.

Southwest Baptist's Elysia Burgos, who won the race at the GLVC's Pod 4 Tri-Meet two weeks ago that Missouri S&T was a part of, captured the title again on Friday with a winning time of 21:30 that was 37 seconds ahead of runner-up Claire McCune from Drury.  SBU also took the team title by eight points over Drury, with Truman State finishing a distant third.

The top four finishing teams in the divisional races held today – the East Divisional race will take place in Springfield, Ill. on Saturday – will run in the "A" race at the GLVC Championships on Oct. 24, while the remaining teams will be in the "B" race.  This is due to the protocols in the conference's "Plan to Proceed" for cross country for the 2020 season, with no race to have more than 80 runners competing at one time.
