ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T has picked up its eighth Google Cloud Academic All-America award for the 2017-18 school year as
Lucas Rosenbaum (Sidney, NE/Sidney HS) was named to the men's track & field squad as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The eight Academic All-America selections in the past year matches the most in one year in school history, as Missouri S&T also had eight named in the 2013-14 academic year. The eight also brings S&T's all-time total of Academic All-America selections to 99, the fifth-most by any current NCAA Division II institution at the conclusion of the current academic year.
Rosenbaum, a civil engineering graduate of Missouri S&T, was named to the second team on the Academic All-America squad following a season in which he captured the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship in the indoor pole vault and placed sixth in the javelin throw at the league's outdoor championships, which was won by the Miners.
He had the team's best performance in the indoor pole vault with a clearance of 16-1¼ in a meet at Pittsburg State and also cleared 16-2 in the outdoor season at Missouri Southern, earning NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks in both seasons.
During his S&T career, Rosenbaum had four top-three finishes in the pole vault that was topped by two conference championships and he also competed at the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, where he finished in 12
th place.
The Academic All-America award is the ninth won by a men's track & field student-athlete at Missouri S&T.
