ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T track & field will split its squad this weekend, sending distance runners to Washington University in St. Louis on Friday before the full team competes at Southwest Baptist University on Saturday.
The Miners men's distance group will compete at the Washington University Distance Carnival on Friday, March 27, with events including the 10,000m (11 a.m.), 5,000m (first section at 2:10 p.m.), and 1,500m (6:40 p.m.).
The remainder of the squad will travel to Bolivar, Missouri, for the Bearcat Invitational on Saturday, March 28. Due to weather adjustments, the meet has been moved to a full Saturday schedule, with field events beginning at 10:30 a.m. and running events starting at 11 a.m. at the SBU Track.

Missouri S&T opened the 2026 outdoor season with a strong showing at the Miner Invitational, highlighted by multiple event wins, school records, and podium finishes. The Miners swept both triple jump titles as Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) won the women's event and Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood) took first on the men's side, while Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) delivered a historic weekend with a school record in the hammer throw (50.25m) and another record-breaking performance in the shot put (14.76m).
Additional field highlights included strong finishes in the pole vault and high jump, while on the track,
Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) captured the 400-meter hurdles title and added a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles. The Miners also excelled in the relays, with both the men's and women's 4x400 teams earning runner-up finishes to cap off an impressive opening weekend.
