BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Missouri S&T track & field turned in a strong performance Saturday at the SBU Bearcat Invitational, with the women placing fifth out of 13 teams (60 points) and the men finishing fourth out of 14 teams (84.50 points).
Women's Highlights
The Miners were led by several top-three finishes in the field events.
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) claimed the shot put title
with a mark of 13.64 meters, while also adding a third-place finish in the discus (41.07m).
Madelaine Fischer (Anamosa, IA/Anamosa) earned a runner-up finish in the discus (41.34m), and Jenna Mueller (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) placed second in the pole vault (3.43m).
On the track, Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) recorded a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 14.91 seconds.
Men's Highlights
The Miners saw a strong showing in the throws, led by Tyler Marchert
, who won the shot put (15.65m), while DJ Carter (Trussville, AL/Hewitt Trussville) followed with a second-place finish (15.63m)

In the jumps, Luke Bass (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) placed third in the high jump (1.90m)
, Noah Misukonis
took third in the pole vault (4.43m), and Vince Scott (Gilberts, IL/Hampshire) added a third-place finish in the triple jump (13.76m).
On the track, Sean Keys (Columbia, MO/Hickman) ran for the distance crew with a time of
3:57.32 in the 1500 meters
, while Justin Grellner (Cedar Hill, MO/Northwest) placed fifth in the 400 meters (49.52).
What's Next
Missouri S&T track & field will travel to Pittsburg, Kansas next weekend to compete in the 18th Annual David Suenram Gorilla Classic.
