Track standout Peter Hollenbeck selected to GLVC Hall of Fame

ROLLA, Mo. – Former Missouri S&T All-America pole vaulter and multi-event specialist Peter Hollenbeck is one of four individuals named today as part of the 2018 induction class to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Hall of Fame.

Hollenbeck will be inducted along with Courtney (Sands) Gault, who competed in basketball and volleyball at the University of Indianapolis; Steven Beattie, a men's soccer standout at Northern Kentucky University; and Roy Pickerill, the long-time sports information director at Kentucky Wesleyan College.  The induction ceremony will take place at the Enterprise/GLVC Spring Awards Banquet on May 22 in St. Louis.

During his Missouri S&T career, Hollenbeck was a two-time decathlon champion in the GLVC and was named as the conference's field athlete of the year at the 2010 GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  With his decathlon title in 2010, Hollenbeck became just third individual in conference history to win the multi-event title in back-to-back seasons.

In addition to his performances in the decathlon, he was a three-time All-America performer in the pole vault, with a top finish of fourth in the event at the 2009 outdoor national meet when he cleared 17-0¾.  He also had a sixth place finish at the 2008 outdoor national meet and tied for eighth at the NCAA Indoor Championships the following year.

Hollenbeck earned All-GLVC honors during all four outdoor seasons as well as his final three indoor campaigns, which included second place finishes in the pole vault in all four outdoor seasons and the 2010 indoor meet, and third place showings in the javelin in 2010 and the indoor pole vault in 2008 and 2009.

He also scored in events at the conference meet on three other occasions during his career.

Hollenbeck is the fifth Missouri S&T student-athlete to be selected to the GLVC Hall of Fame and third from the men's track & field program, joining Tyrone Smith and Jordan Henry as inductees.  The other two from S&T named to the GLVC Hall of Fame were softball player Kandi Wieberg and Tamara McCaskill, who was named in track & field and women's basketball.
