WomenFAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Missouri S&T's cross country teams took part Saturday in the Chile Pepper Festival at the University of Arkansas, with the men's team finishing in 17
th place overall and the women's squad in 22
nd place among the 33 teams entered.
The men's team was led by
Joe Bindner (St. Peters, Mo./Fort Zumwalt East), who recorded a time of 26:14 in the eight-kilometer race, while
Connor Crabtree (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) finished the race in 26:50.
Nathan Boys (Pomona, Mo./West Plains) was the third Miner to cross the finish line in 27:01, while
Tyler Percy (O'Fallon, Mo./Fort Zumwalt West) finished in 27:02 and
Connor Yarnall (Broken Arrow, Okla./Broken Arrow) rounded out S&T's top five with a time of 27:19.
On the women's side,
Fran Chronister (Poplar Bluff, Mo./Poplar Bluff) led the Lady Miners in the five-kilometer race with a time of 18:41, while
Haylie Wiesner (Liberty, Mo./Liberty) crossed the line in 19:34 and
Allie Wood (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) did so in 19:52. The final two S&T finishers were
Jordan Thompson (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) with a time of 20:42 and
Baylee Hutchinson (West Plains, Mo./West Plains) with a mark of 21:30.
Colorado School of Mines won the 33-team men's competition with a score of 44 points, while the University of Montevallo edged Colorado Mines to capture the women's race.
Missouri S&T will host the Miner Invitational next Saturday at the S&T Golf Course with the first race beginning at 9:30 a.m.
