Box Score (Rensselaer, Ind.) – Toni Knar (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) scored a career-high 23 points, 20 in the second half, and tied the school record for most three's made in a game with seven as the Missouri S&T Lady Miners grinded out a 69-55 win at Saint Joseph's on Thursday in Rensselaer, Ind. It's the second time in her career she's made seven treys in a game and ties the mark set by her and Trish Van Diggelen.

S&T (8-4, 4-0 GLVC) did most of its damage in the first half with its leading scorer – Hailee Parks (Sullivan, Mo./Sullivan) - on the bench who picked up two fouls in the first four minutes and sat on the bench for the rest of the half. Kylie Cooper (Andover, Kan./Andover) and Karli Sample (St. Joseph, Mo./Benton) picked up the slack as the duo combined for 17 points. Sample had 10 off the bench. The Lady Miners led by as many as nine in the opening half, but the Pumas (1-10, 0-3 GLVC) closed to within 26-22 at the break on a three from Lexy Carson.

Neither side shot the ball particularly well in the opening stanza as S&T shot just 36 percent (8-for-22) and Saint Joseph's was only 7-of-30 (23 percent). The Lady Miners though were 9-for-11 at the foul line and held a 22-16 edge on the glass.

The Pumas scored the first two points of the second half, but Knar keyed a 7-0 run with a three and a fast-break layup helping S&T extend its lead to 33-24. Saint Joseph's responded with eight straight points and got as close as 33-32 at the 14:41 mark.

Knar keyed another run hitting back-to-back three's and Cooper made a layup to extend the lead to 42-32. The Pumas cut it to nine points, but wouldn't get any closer as Knar hit her fourth three of the half to push the lead back to double digits at 45-33 with less than 11 minutes left in the game. The lead grew to as many as 18 points on a jumper from Parks at the 7:02 mark, but Saint Joseph's continued to scrap and claw and closed to within 59-51 with 2:28 to play.

Parks and Knar silenced any idea of a comeback though as they combined to score eight of the final 12 points and sealed it on Knar's seventh three with 1:05 left in the contest.

S&T shot 55 percent in the second half and finished the game shooting at a 48 percent clip. It was only 35 percent from three and made 75 percent of its free throws (12-for-16). It won the battle on the boards 45-to-31. Knar was joined in double figures by Parks with 16, all in the second half and Sample contributed 11. Parks also had a double-double with 12 rebounds.

The Pumas finished the game shooting 32 percent from the floor, 31 percent from three and 75 percent at the foul line. Jasmyne Reynolds led the way for SJC with 16 points while Carson added 15 and Wilson dropped in 13.

The Lady Miners are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to take on the fifth-ranked Indianapolis Greyhounds. Both teams enter Saturday's game undefeated in league play.
