Box Score Despite holding an edge on the stat sheet the S&T Lady Miners game with Kentucky Wesleyan ended in a
2-2 draw in double overtime on Sunday afternoon in Rolla.
KWC ( 1-2-1, 0-1-1 GLVC) scored the games first goal 5:40 into the game when Kristen Chinn slipped a shot just under the arm of
Kelsey Kurilla (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) inside the near post. The Lady Miners (3-1-1, 1-0-1 GLVC) tied the match almost eight minutes later when
Morgan Lockowitz (Trenton, Ill./Wesclin ) scored her first goal of the season off a goalie deflection on
Brooke Ryan (Olathe, Kan./Olathe East)'s cross.
S&T continued applying pressure but was unable to take the lead until the 31st minute when Marci Bryd knocked a loose ball into the open net. The lead would be short lived though as the Panthers scored again in the 43rd minute to knot it back up.
The Lady Miners came out of the halftime intermission looking for the go ahead goal early getting three corner kicks in the first five minutes. Their best chance came just over two minutes in when
Joanna Kovarik (Gladstone, Mo./North Kansas City) lifted a shot from 25 yards that was knocked over the top of the goal by the keeper.
S&T continued its domination in the frame outshooting KWC 11-5 but were unable to find the back of the net.
Kentucky Wesleyan had the best chance in the first overtime period on a shot off the foot of Chinn deflected off Kurilla's hands and nearly went in before she was able to recover.
The Lady Miners dominated the second overtime getting two shots on net but both were turned away preserving the tie.
S&T held a 22-11 advantage in shots but just 9-7 in shots on goal. It also finished the contest with 13 corner kicks.
Morgan Lockowitz (Trenton, Ill./Wesclin ) had six shots, four on goal, to lead the Lady Miners while Byrd finished with five.
Kelsey Kurilla (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) saved five of the seven shots she faced in the contest.
