Miners Make Their Mark at UCM Mule Relays

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Missouri S&T track and field turned in a solid weekend of performances as the Miners competed at the UCM Kip and Kirk Outdoor Mule Relays on Thursday and Friday. 
 
On Thursday, the Miners saw multiple top-three finishes highlighted by strong efforts in the field events. Wilson Klein (Houston, TX/Lutheran South Academy) placed third in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 4.75 meters, while Jake Salazar-Blair (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) also earned a third-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 60.82 meters. On the women's side, Jenna Mueller (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) matched that mark with a third-place finish in the pole vault at 3.65 meters. 
 
On the track, Kaiden Snyder (St. James, MO/St. James) led the men in the 400-meter hurdles with a seventh-place finish in 55.56, while Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) took fifth in the women's 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.14. Jack Janovick (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) added a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.40, and Spencer Pye (Merriam, KS/Shawnee Mission North) delivered a strong distance performance, placing fourth in the 10,000 meters in 31:44.94. 
 
Friday featured another set of strong performances, led by Vince Scott's (Gilberts, IL/Hampshire) runner-up finish in the men's triple jump with a mark of 13.80 meters. Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) turned in a pair of top-five finishes for the women, placing fifth in the triple jump (11.00 meters) and fourth in the high jump (1.50 meters). Madelaine Fischer (Anamosa, IA/Anamosa) tallied in a fourth-place finish in discus with a throw of 46.17 meters and Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) followed behind placing sixth, throwing 42.70 meters. Morris added a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.86 meters. 
 
In the hurdles, Wright returned to place sixth in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.64, followed closely by Mary Kimmerle (Lathrop, MO/Liberty North) in seventh at 14.72. 
 
What's Next 
Missouri S&T returns home to host the Dewey Allgood Invitational, a one-day meet set for Saturday, April 18, at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
