ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T will be well represented on the national stage as six Miners have earned qualification to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, with official selections set.
The NCAA Division II Indoor Championships are set for March 13-14 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where the nation's top athletes will compete for national titles.
The Miners qualified athletes across multiple events, highlighted by the nation's top-ranked shot put mark and a distance medley relay squad that has been among the best in Division II all season.
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) leads the way for S&T after a dominant indoor campaign. Fraser enters the national meet ranked No. 1 in the country in the shot put with a school-record throw of 19.37 meters. He will also compete in the weight throw, where he is ranked ninth nationally with a mark of 20.69 meters, giving the Miners a strong scoring presence in the throws.
In the distance events, Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) will compete in the 3,000 meters after posting a time of 7:57.39, currently ranked 12th nationally. Born has been a key figure in the Miners' success throughout the indoor season and will also anchor the distance medley relay.
Missouri S&T's distance medley relay team of Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves), Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill), Jack Janovick (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill), and Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) enters the championships ranked ninth in the nation with a time of 9:42.81. The quartet has broken the school record multiple times this season and established itself as one of the premier relay squads in Division II.
Justin Grellner (Cedar Hill, MO/Northwest) will serve as the relay alternate.
Knittel will also compete individually in the heptathlon, where he ranks 15th nationally with 5,136 points. His versatility across seven events has made him one of the conference's most complete athletes and a key contributor to the Miners' team success this winter.
With representation in the throws, distance events, relays, and multi-events, Missouri S&T heads into the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships with momentum and multiple opportunities to make an impact on the national stage.
