Miners Deliver Strong Showing at GLVC Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T wrapped up competition at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships with a strong overall performance, as the Miner men placed fourth out of 12 teams and the women finished sixth out of 13 teams. 
 
The weekend was highlighted by multiple podium finishes and record-breaking performances that showcased S&T's depth across events. 
 
On the women's side, Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) captured the GLVC title in the pentathlon with 3,503 points, claiming the conference crown with a complete, consistent performance across all five events. Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) added a runner-up finish in the shot put with a throw of 14.30 meters, continuing her strong indoor campaign and scoring valuable team points. 
 
The Miner men were led by standout performances in both the throws and distance events. Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) claimed the GLVC championship in the shot put with a mark of 17.94 meters, setting a new Indoor GLVC Championship meet record in the process. Noah Misukonis earned a second-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 4.66 meters to secure a podium spot. 
 
Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) delivered a dominant effort in the mile, winning the conference title in 4:07.34 while setting a new Indoor GLVC Championship record. Born also added a second-place finish in the 3,000 meters (8:06.48), while Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) took third in the mile (4:10.60) to give the Miners two podium finishers in the event. 
 
In the sprints and hurdles, Louis Yohannes (Troy, IL/Triad) placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.03 seconds, continuing his strong postseason form. The distance medley relay team of Jimmy Wacker (Festus, MO/Festus), Nathaniel White (Monroe, LA/Sterlington), Sean Keys (Columbia, MO/Hickman), and Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) also earned a podium finish, placing third in 10:12.08.
