KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Missouri S&T women's basketball battled throughout Thursday night but fell 66–58 to Truman State in a Great Lakes Valley Conference matchup at Pershing Arena. The Miners move to 8–13 overall and 4–11 in GLVC play following the contest.
The game featured seven ties and seven lead changes, as neither team was able to create separation early. Missouri S&T opened the night with strong play in the paint, building an early eight-point advantage in the first quarter before Truman State rallied to tie the score 17–17 at the end of the period. The Miners continued to attack inside in the second quarter and trailed by just one at halftime, 33–32.
Truman State used a strong third quarter to gain momentum, outscoring S&T 22–16 in the frame to take a 55–48 lead into the final period.
The Miners continued to compete in the fourth, cutting the deficit to five on multiple occasions, but were unable to overcome the Bulldogs' timely shooting and free-throw efficiency down the stretch.
Ava McCulla (St. Louis, MO/Parkway South) led Missouri S&T with 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting while pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds to record her second double-double of the season.
Norah Gum (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Adriana Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) provided a spark off the bench with eight points. As a team, the Miners outrebounded Truman State 39–36 and scored 44 of their 58 points in the paint.

Missouri S&T will look to bounce back on Saturday as GLVC play continues at William Jewell, tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
