EVANSVILLE, IN -- Missouri S&T Swimming is over halfway through the 2026 Great Lakes Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. They have competed in 14 events so far and have 18 more on the way in the final two days of competition.
Tuesday only included one event, with the Miners taking 6th in the 800 free relay with a time of 6:38.84. The team consisted of Bichsel, Naquin, Wetzel, and Wiedemeier.
Wednesday's morning session brought two prelim events and one final, with the Miners sending
Connor Bichsel (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit West) on to the 200 IM final and
Adam Wiedemeier (West Monroe, LA/West Monroe) on to the 50 Free final.
Colin Shaffer (Ballwin, MO/Parkway South) was the first Miner to record a placement in a finals event, taking twentieth in the 1000 free with a personal-best time of 9:37.47. Bichsel went on to claim fourth in the 200 IM finals with a time of 1:46.73 later that evening, followed by Wiedemeier placing 6th in the 50 Free with 20.3.
Thursday morning saw three more Miners move into event finals, getting top eight finishes from
Oscar Iden (Oslo, Norway/Oslo Private Gymnasium) in the 100 Fly, Bichsel in the 400 IM, and Wiedemeier in the 200 Free. Bichsel recorded the best finals finish of the three, placing fourth with 3:48.2. Iden's time of 48.21 earning him sixth in the 100 Fly while Wiedemeier's 1:38.44 in 200 Free earned him eighth.
The 400 Medley Relay was the Miners' final event of day three, getting a fourth-place finish with a time of 3:14.75 from the team of Fridsell, Christensen, Iden, and Wiedemeier.

The Miners will be back in action later today, beginning with the 500 free prelims.
