S&T Throwers Head to SEMO for Redhawks Invite

1/9/2026 11:21:00 AM

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Missouri S&T track and field continues the indoor season this weekend as the Miners' throwers travel to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to compete in the Redhawks Invite, hosted by Southeast Missouri State, on Saturday, Jan. 10.

The meet will take place inside the Student Recreation Center, which opens at 10 a.m. Field events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m., with no running events contested by the Miners at this meet.

Missouri S&T's throwers return to a venue where they found success a season ago. On the women's side, Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) led the Miners at last year's Redhawks Invite, recording the top finishes by an S&T thrower with fourth-place results in both the shot put and weight throw.

The men's throwing group also produced strong performances in 2024, highlighted by DJ Carter (Trussville, AL/Hewitt Trussville), who posted personal-best marks in both the shot put and weight throw, finishing eighth in each event.

With a focused group of throwers in action, Missouri S&T looks to continue building momentum early in the indoor season before reuniting the full squad in upcoming meets.

What's Next
The Miners will return to action the following weekend at the Show-Me Showdown on Saturday, Jan. 17, in Columbia, Mo.
