Track & Field Post Multiple Podium Finishes at Show Me Showdown

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri S&T track and field turned in a strong all-around performance Friday as the Miners traveled to Columbia to compete in the Show Me Showdown, earning several podium finishes and top-10 results across both the men's and women's events.

On the women's side, Missouri S&T saw success in both the field and track events. In the 60-meter hurdles, Mary Kimmerle (Lathrop, MO/Liberty North) led the Miners with an eighth-place finish (9.26), followed closely by Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) in 10th (9.30). The Miners also placed two athletes inside the top 10 in the high jump, with Lauryn Fenoglio (Granite City, IL/Granite City) and Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) tying for ninth after each cleared 4-11.75.

In the horizontal jumps, Madeline Falls (Queen Creek, AZ/Benjamin Franklin) delivered one of the day's top performances, placing fourth in the long jump with a mark of 17-10.75, while Ali McClure (St. Louis, MO/Kirkwood) added a seventh-place finish (17-1.5). Jenna Mueller (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) contributed a sixth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 10-7.

The throwing events continued to be a strength for S&T, as Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 13.90 meters and followed with a sixth-place finish in the weight throw (15.81). Madelaine Fischer (Anamosa, IA/Anamosa) rounded out the shot put group with a seventh-place result (10.96).

The men's team produced multiple podium finishes highlighted by another standout day from the throwers and jumpers. Louis Yohannes (Troy, IL/Triad) earned a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.22, while Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) followed in fifth (8.52).

In the field events, Luke Bass (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) continued his strong indoor season with a runner-up finish in the high jump, clearing 6-6. The pole vault trio of Wilson Klein (Houston, TX/Lutheran South Academy), Jonathan Nitsch (Winfield, IL/Saint Charles East), and Xander Hall (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) combined for solid results, with Klein placing third (14-1.25), Nitsch fourth (14-1.25), and Hall clearing 13-7.25.

Missouri S&T also placed multiple athletes in the top eight of the long jump, led by Nathan White in sixth (21-5.5) and Jacob Dillon (Kearney, MO/Kearney) in eighth (21-3.5). Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood) added a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 44-10.75.

The throwers capped the day with dominant performances, as Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) claimed first place in the shot put with a throw of 18.71 meters, securing a new school record, and followed with a second-place finish in the weight throw (22.20). Aiden McDaniel (Ashland, MO/Southern Boone) also contributed in both events, throwing 15.35 meters in the shot put and placing ninth in the weight throw (14.13).

Missouri S&T returns to competition on Saturday, Jan. 24, when the Miners travel to Illinois College for their next indoor meet.
