Men's Soccer Holds Saints Close in GLVC Match

ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T men's soccer held Maryville to just one goal in a hard-fought 1-0 setback Sunday at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.

The Miners created chances throughout the afternoon, matching the Saints with eight shots in the first half and finishing with 14 attempts overall. Luiz Bernis (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Colegio Santo Antonio) tested the keeper with a first-half shot on target, while Zyon Makoul (Trinidad & Tobago/Presentation College) and Nathan Weyrauch (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) each tallied dangerous looks in the second half to keep pressure on the Saints.

In the net, Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) delivered another strong performance, recording six saves to keep S&T within striking distance. The Miner defense, anchored by Joseph Sommer (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) and Caden Archer (St. Louis, MO/Vianney), limited Maryville's attack to just one breakthrough in the 67th minute.

Despite a late push that included shots from Zeke Beasley (Houston, TX/Klein) and Caiden Harris (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis University High) in the closing minutes, S&T couldn't find the equalizer.

With the result, the Miners move to 4-2-1 overall and 2-2 in GLVC play

Missouri S&T will continue conference play on the road Friday, October 3, at McKendree before visiting Illinois Springfield on Sunday, October 5.
