ROLLA, Mo. — Missouri S&T men's soccer picked up one of its biggest wins of the season Wednesday night, defeating No. 10 Drury 1-0 at S&T Soccer Field.
This marks the Miners' first win over a ranked team since 2021 (beat #19 Northeastern State 1-0). Additionally, their first win over a top-10 team since 2017 (beat #8 Rockhurst 3-2 in the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament).
Jake Salazar-Blair (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) provided the game's only goal in the 23rd minute, putting the Miners in front off an assist from
Joseph Sommer (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville).
Missouri S&T carried the one-goal advantage into halftime and held Drury scoreless throughout the second half to secure the shutout. Drury finished with 10 shots, including three on goal, while the Miners recorded six shots with four on target.
Cavitt Bruhn (Plano, TX/Plano) anchored the defensive effort in goal for S&T, making three saves across 90 minutes to preserve the shutout.
The Panthers held an advantage in corner kicks, 4-5, though the Miners committed seven fouls compared with Drury's 11.
Missouri S&T improved to 7-3 overall and 5-3 in conference play with the victory, while Drury fell to 7-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference play.

Following tonight, Missouri S&T will be back at home this Saturday, Oct. 3, hosting the University of Indianapolis at 2:30 p.m.
