ROMEOVILLE, IL -- The first six events of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships are in the books and the Miners' men are 4th in the standings.
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) had the best finish of any Miner today, finishing 2nd in the hammer throw to earn all-conference in the event with a personal best mark of 61.16.
Matthew Hoffman (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) recorded a PB in the event as well, placing 10th with a 49.33 throw.
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) recorded the best finish in the women's hammer, coming in 14th with a 43.91 mark.
Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) and
Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) both recorded top 10 finishes in the men's 1500 meter, with Bacon's season best time of 3:55.97 earning him fourth place.
Joshua Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines) and
Samuel Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines) had the top two finishes for S&T in the 10000 meter, placing 13th and 14th.
In the multis,
Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) finished top 4 in all four heptathlon events today, sitting in 2nd place with 2757 points.
Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) had a solid first day as well in the decathlon, ending the day with 3433 points.
What's Next
Events resume at 9am tomorrow, beginning with more multis before the women's long jump at 1pm.
