BOLIVAR, MO -- The Miners attended their second meet of the outdoor season last week, heading to the campus of Southwest Baptist University for the Bearcat Invitational.
Olivia Henkel (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) and Lauryn Fenoglio (Granite City, IL/Granite City) both had strong performances in the women's high jump. Henkel finished 4th with a 1.59m mark and Fenoglio finished 9th with a personal-best 1.49m mark. Luke Bass (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) finished 5th in the high jump for the men, with a mark of 1.89m.
The Miners had three top-three finishers between the men's and women's pole vault, with Wilson Klein () taking 2nd with a mark of 4.36m, Isaac Pollard (Lindale, TX/Lindale) placing 3rd with 4.36m, and Elizabeth Rothweiler's (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) personal-best 3.65m earning her third place on the women's side. S&T placed 4th, 5th, and 7th in the men's triple jump, with Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood) and Tristan Jones (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) both recording personal bests in the event.
S&T had strong showings in throws again, starting with the discus, which included Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) getting another provisional mark in the event with a mark of 52.24m. Madelaine Fischer () had the highest finish for the women in the discus, placing 5th with a personal-best 39.55m mark. Fischer and Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) both recorded PBs in the hammer throw, finishing 10th and 7th, respectively. Morris also set a personal best in the shot put, recording a mark of 12.63m to take 4th place.
The personal bests continued for the Miners in the men's hammer and shot put, with Fraser recording PBs and provisional marks as he took second place in both. Kevin McCole (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell) and Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) took 4th place in the hammer and shot, respectively, with McCole's mark of 54.03m setting a new personal best.
Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) and Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) each took 3rd in the 100-meter and 110-meter hurdles, with the latter recording a personal best of 14.85 seconds. Mary Kimmerle (Lathrop, MO/Liberty North), Jake Lansdowne (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley), David Masaitis, and Kamden Lockwood (Herscher, IL/Herscher) all recorded top-ten finishes in the hurdles as well, with the first three all recording personal bests.
Sam Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) took 1st place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.52, while Kaiden Snyder () and Nathan Apple (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg) followed closely behind in 3rd and 5th, with Snyder recording a new personal best. Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) and Olivia Miles () both recorded top-ten finishes in the 400-meter hurdles. Miles also set a PB in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.37 seconds.
Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) and Aiden Kearns (St. Charles, MO/Lutheran-St. Charles) finished 4th and 5th in the 800-meter run, with Kearns' 1:56.28 run setting a new personal best. The day concluded with the 4x400 relay as the Miners' teams placed 8th and 10th on the women's side as well as 4th and 6th on the men's.

The Miners will be in Cape Girardeau this week starting on Thursday for the Joey Haines Invitational at Southeast Missouri.
