JACKSONVILLE, IL -- The Miners recorded seven first-place finishes at the Jim Green Invitational today. Their wins came in the high jump, pole vault, triple jump, shot put, and weight throw.
Olivia Henkel (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) and
Luke Bass (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) recorded the first pair of first-place finishes of the meet. Henkel won the women's high jump with a mark of 1.65m while Bass won the men's with 1.95m.
Elizabeth Rothweiler (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) kept the victories coming for the Miners, taking first in the pole vault with 3.55m. Meanwhile,
Noah Misukonis (Bloomington, IL/Bloomington),
Isaac Pollard (Lindale, TX/Lindale), and
Xander Hall (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) finished third, fourth, and fifth in the men's pole vault.
The long jump was next with
Mary Kimmerle (Lathrop, MO/Liberty North),
Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland),
Ayden Jones (), and
Vince Scott (Gilberts, IL/Hampshire) all recording top five finishes. Smith took first in the triple jump next, making a 10.96m jump for the win. S&T took first in three of the next four events with
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) winning the women's shot put,
Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) winning the men's shot put, and
Kevin McCole (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell) winning the weight throw.
Next came the track events, with Kimmerle starting it off well for the Miners with a second-place finish in the 60H. Samuel Schmidt recorded a pair of top five finishes, placing 3rd in the 60m and 4th in the 200m.
Aiden Kearns (St. Charles, MO/Lutheran-St. Charles) would follow that up with a 4th place finish in the 800m with a time of 1:59.93 and
Jake Lansdowne (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley) would record his highest finish of the season, placing 4th in the 60H.
What's Next
Next weekend, the Miners will hit the road to Pittsburg, where they'll compete over two days at the Gorilla Classic.
