ELSAH, IL -- The Miners had another successful meet over the weekend at the Principia Relays in Illinois, recording seven first-place finishes.
Track athletes from the Men's team were the highlight of the meet for S&T, with four of the seven Miner first-place finishes coming from that squad.
Joshua Nunn (Independence, MO/Truman) took first place in the men's 5000m, with four more Miners finishing directly behind him with
Samuel Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines),
Joshua Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines),
Shaun Wolfe (Fulton, MO/Fulton), and
Jacob Meyers (Lake St. Louis, MO/Homeschooled) crossing in 2nd through 5th.
Evan Mitchell (Shawnee, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) took first in the 3000m with a time of 8:48.20. Meanwhile, Miner teams took first in both the 4x800 relay and the distance medley relay.
The other three first-place finishes came from
Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) in the shot put,
Kevin McCole (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell) in the weight throw, and
Isaac Pollard (Lindale, TX/Lindale) in the pole vault.
Noah Misukonis (Bloomington, IL/Bloomington) had a strong performance in the pole vault, finishing in a close second behind Pollard with a personal-best (PB) mark of 4.35m.
Luke Bass (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) came close to the NCAA Division II provisional mark in the high jump, clearing 2.00m… just 0.05 short of the provisional.
For the women's team,
Olivia Miles (Tulsa, OK/Bishop Kelley) broke her PB in the 200m that she set at the Mule Relays last week, finishing in 27.45.
Elizabeth Rothweiler (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) and
Jenna Mueller (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) did well in the pole vault, with Rothweiler finishing second and Mueller taking fourth with a PB of 3.15m.
What's Next
The Gorilla Classic is on the schedule for the Miners this week, with the meet set to start on Friday.
