JACKSONVILLE, IL -- Missouri S&T's track and field teams competed at the Hilltop Classic yesterday evening, with
Olivia Henkel (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) headlining the results as she reached the provisional mark in the women's high jump. The Miners recorded 36 top ten finishes all in all, with Henkel,
Luke Bass (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South), and
Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) recording the only three first place finishes.
Henkel's personal record of 1.67m in the high jump was enough to both earn her first at the Hilltop Classic and reach the NCAA Division II Provisional mark. She was not the only Miner to find success in the high jump though, as Bass would clear 1.95 to take first in the men's high jump.
Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) continues to solidify her status as one of the best jumpers in Miner history, adding her name in the S&T history book yet again by setting a new program record for indoor triple jump with 11.43m. Meanwhile, both
Ayden Jones () and
Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) fared well in the long jump. Jones took second in the men's with a personal record of 6.86m and Wright took third in the women's with 5.16m
Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) and
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) were the top two throwers in shot put for the Miners, each taking third place in their event with Crouch setting a PR of 15.79m. In the pole vault,
Elizabeth Rothweiler (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) took second place with a height of 11' 6.5".
Daniel Garrison (Liberty, MO/Liberty) ran well for the men, setting a PR in the 800m with a time of 1:59.18 and taking fourth.
