S&T Runners Shine at Gorilla Classic; Born Breaks S&T 3000m Record

PITTSBURG, KS  --  The Miners had a successful showing from the their runners over the last two days, with several recording personal records (PR) and Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) breaking his own record in the 3000m with a time of 8:03.58.

Born competed unattached at the meet and took first place in the men's 3000m with a program-record 8:03.58. Shaun Wolfe (Fulton, MO/Fulton) ran a PR in the 3000m as well, finishing in 26th with a time of 8:47.4. The 5000m was the next event to yield strong results for the Miners, as Joshua Nunn (Independence, MO/Truman) finished 14th with an indoor PR of 15:08.45. Samuel Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines) and Joshua Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines) also set PRs in the 5000m, finishing 19th and 20th.

Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) recorded the highest finish of any Miner thrower, finishing 6th in the shot put with an indoor PR of 16.51m. Duane Carter recorded a PR as well, hitting a mark of 13.95m in the weight throw. Evan Mitchell (Shawnee, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) and Aiden Kearns (St. Charles, MO/Lutheran-St. Charles) were the only other Miners to record PRs at the Gorilla Classic, with Mitchell's coming in the mile run with a time of 4:17.59 while Kearns' 1:56.92 in the 800m earned him his second PR of the season.
