10/1/2025 11:00:00 AM

ROLLA, MO  --  Missouri S&T has added Abigail Missiaen to the coaching staff as the new Assistant Track & Field coach. She will be specializing in pole vault, multi-events, and javelin.

Missiaen joins the Miners after a three-year stint with NCAA Division III Wisconsin-Whitewater. While with the Warhawks, she coached multis, long jump, triple jump, and javelin, while also serving as an interim shot put and discus coach during the 2024 season. Missiaen graduated from Wisconsin-Whitewater in May with her Master of Science in Applied Kinesiology. Prior to that, she graduated from Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelor's in Business Administration. She majored in Business Management with an emphasis in Sports Management and a minor in Health Promotion.

During Missiaen's undergraduate career she competed as a 5-Year student-athlete in track and field. Competing in the pentathlon, heptathlon, javelin, and briefly in 400m Hurdles and pole vault. During this time Missiaen won a conference title in the heptathlon with a score that broke the UW-Whitewater program record; she still holds the current outdoor heptathlon record. Missiaen has nine other all WIAC honors in track and field between the pentathlon, heptathlon, and javelin. Missiaen is a two-time NCAA DIII National Championships qualifier in track and field finishing 11th (pentathlon) and 12th (heptathlon). During the 2020-21 season, Missiaen was awarded the team leadership award. Missiaen competed on the UW-Whitewater Gymnastics team during the 2018-2019 season where she was first team all-conference on the Vault (placing 2nd). Qualified for the DIII (NCGA) National Championships and received all-second team honors on the Vault.

Missiaen's passion for coaching started at a young age. Missiaen's coaching career started with gymnastics at thirteen years old and then track and field at sixteen years old. Both of Missiaen's parents are sports coaches and her father being one of her track and field coaching mentors.

Missiaen enjoys spending her free time outdoors with her husband Tyler and dog Cedar.

"I am so excited to add Abigail to the Miner Track & Field family!" said Head Track & Field Coach Nikki Segrest, "She has a skill set that complements mine and her passion for the sport is palpable."
